A late goal at the Kingfield Stadium saw Stockport County suffer their fourth defeat in a row, leaving the club just above the drop zone in the Blue Square Premier League, Woking defender Adam Doyle heading home the only goal of the game five minutes from time to give the Surrey side a double over Jim Gannon’s side.
The home side started brightly and with just 90 seconds on the clock Brett Williams was unlucky not to open the scoring as his 25 yard effort crashed off the underside of the bar, bouncing off the goal-line with keeper Ian Ormson beaten.
The big striker, on loan from Reading, would expect to have done better with his next chance as he missed an open goal on 18 minutes after Bradley Bubb raced down the right to deliver a great cross.
County won the first of a series of first half corners as a good interception from Joe Connor set Danny Hattersley away, his pass to Paul Turnbull being turned behind. Turnbull's header from Sam Sheridan's corner tipped away by Aaron Howe for another corner.
Kevin Betsy left the County defence chasing shadows on 33 minutes as he burst into the box, his effort cleared off the line by Sean Newton.
With the half coming to an end the Hatters put together their best move so far, superb work between Turnbull and Andy Halls saw the latter deliver the perfect cross for Hattersley, only for Howe to save the strikers goal bound effort.
From the keepers throw the home side broke quickly, Ian Ormson making a sharp save to ensure the half ended goal less.

The Hatters came closest to opening the score early in the second half as Sheridan’s volley was well saved at the foot of his post by Howe following two County corners in quick succession.
The Hatters had two lucky escapes within quick succession as firstly the woodwork came to their rescue for a second time, Betsy rising above the County defence to head an effort against the bar, after a Woking free-kick, Betsy then appeared to be bundled over in the box by substitute Jordan Fagbola, the referee awarding the home side their first corner kick of the game instead of a penalty.
Connor Jennings wasn't able to continue his goal scoring run for the Hatters as he was being closely marked, Bubb booked for one too many fouls on the striker, with keeper Howe denying him on the one occasion he escaped his marker. Teenager Joe Bunney, having played in several 'development' games, made his full debut for County as he replaced Hattersley, his only chance to shine coming with a late header which cleared the bar on 82 minutes.
With the game seemingly heading for a goal less draw the home side clinched all three points following only their second corner of the game. Ormson saving well from the first ball in was beaten by Doyle's header from the returned ball into the box.
