The second home game of the season in front of a crowd of 2561 (71) saw a 77min goal by Colwyn Bay Substitute Jamie Matthews the only difference in a tight affair at Edgeley Park.
In a game where the score could have been a lot different, a loss was a great injustice for county although the Seagulls were also close on several chances and deserved the goal they got even if it was a little scrappy.
Colwyn Bay started the first 10minutes strong with county taking a while to get into the match with youngster Rhys Turner picking up a booking for a pull on Colwyn Bay’s Ed Moss.
A few good bits of play by Moke and Turner helped up county’s mentality but wasn’t enough to help them in the final third.
A great shot by full back O’Halloran saw county go closest in the first half but seagulls keeper Ollerenshaw tipped it just over the bar for a corner. This led to county having a scrap to get the ball in the net only to see the ball finally cleared off the line by Colwyn Bay.
After another lengthy period of Seagull domination seeing them have 3 corners in a row. Verma crossed in from the right to find Howards head only for it to be saved by Ollerenshaw who had a good game to deny County several chances.
After half time, county looked a lot more lively and started the half well. With Moke missing out on a close goal by an excellent save by Ollerenshaw who got a finger to the ball to tip it wide. A couple of minutes late saw Verma go close with a header that hit the post.
The closest county came was on the 76th minute when a cross is well headed by verma beating the keeper but bouncing back off the post. A counter attack by Colwyn Bay followed ending in a goal through a back heel by Substitute Jamie Matthews after ormson saves the initial shot.
The game was almost over after this a few close chances by both teams but nothing came of them.
County will be disappointed with the loss that could easily have been a different score line on another day.
