County lost their first league fixture at Edgeley Park since August to North Ferriby United as a result of two goals from Anthony Wilson with Phil Jevons scoring what turned out to be a mere consolation goal.
The first half started in pedestrian fashion with neither team being able to create too much and chances being few and far between.
Out of nowhere Stephen O’Halloran produced an audacious effort from a tight angle on the left hand side of the box which ended up just wide of the keepers left hand post. With neither team looking like scoring County conceded a corner on the 19th minute which led to Wilson’s first, getting above the County defenders and heading the ball into the back of the net.
County responded when Kyle Jacobs played a low ball driven ball into the path of Kristian Dennis just outside the box, still with a lot to do Dennis managed to turn his marker and fire a shot towards The Villagers’ goal but his effort went just wide of the goalkeeper’s post.
Dickinson tested the oppositions ‘keeper just before half time when he reached the end of a O’Halloran cross with a looping header but keeper Adam Nicklin did well to tip the ball out for a corner at full stretch.
The second half began with a County adding more pressure to the North Ferriby United defence. A County corner was cleared to Iain Howard just inside the box who fired a shot at goal which proved difficult for Nicklin to handle and the ‘keeper spilled the ball but County just fail to make it count.
North Ferriby United’s second goal came on the 66th minute when a long ball over the top, was controlled well by Anthony Wilson who was strong enough to outmuscle Fagbola just outside the penalty area, working his way inside the 18 yard box he fired in his second goal of the game into Ormson’s bottom right corner.
As North Ferriby looked to increase the margin of their lead, Ormson pulled off an excellent save to deny Wilson his hatrick from a point blank powerful header just outside the 6 yard box.
Eventually County pulled a goal back following increased amounts of pressure on the Ferriby defence when Phil Jevons scored his 9th goal of the league campaign with a fantastic well-placed shot on the 83rd minute from the edge of the box, beating the keeper in his top left hand corner.
County continued to press the oppositions defence in search of an equaliser in the dying moments of the game. Adriano Moke did well along the left hand flank, beating two North Ferriby players to break free then square the ball across the penalty area into Dennis’ feet but he could only manage to fire his shot into the arms of ‘keeper Adam Nicklin.
