County extended their solid home form to a run of seven games without defeat following a draw to midlands side Solihull Moors.
County began the game well when Rhys Oates raced past his marker to get himself through on goal with just the keeper to beat. He struck the ball confidently but the post came to the visitor’s rescue.
Solihull Moors took the lead on the 7th minute following a throw in that left Beswick with lots of space in front of goal and placed a simple chance into the back of the net. Following the opening goal neither team really created many opportunities and it turned out to be a frustrating half for County.
In an effort to re-energise his side, Alan Lord made a change at half time bringing on Mark Battersby to replace Adriano Moke. Battersby instantly made an impact when Howard got on the end of Chris Churchman’s cross to cut the ball back to Mark Battersby who fired the his goal bound effort straight at Solihull keeper Jas Singh.
County equalised on the 53rd minute following a floating ball from Chris Churchman over the Solihull defence in search of Mark Battersby who chased the ball down. The keeper raced out of his box to clear his lines but didn’t quite get enough on the ball which fell to Kyle Jacobs on the half way line who played the ball to Phil Jevons who launched a spectacular lob over the keeper from around 30 yards out.
County had the momentum following the equaliser and produced another fantastic team goal just moments later. Jacobs again did brilliantly to keep possession and play a neat through ball to Mark Battersby who slotted the ball home from a difficult angle, scoring on his home debut at Edgeley Park to give County the lead.
On the 74th minute the visitors had a disallowed goal as Junior English punched the ball into the back of Ian Ormson’s net. Solihull continued to put the pressure on County in search of an equaliser. As Reece Fleet stormed down the left flank he fired a dangerous cross for Gary Birch to rifle a shot towards goal and Ormson pulled off a fantastic point blank save to deny the substitute.
Solihull’s pressure paid off on the 85th minute following a cross from Gary Birch who lofted the ball over the County defence for Michael Taylor to produce a powerful header past Ian Ormson.
