County exited the FA Cup following an impressive free kick from Rushall Olympic.
Chances in today’s game were few and far between with neither side really being able to create much especially during the first half. The best chance of the half fell to County’s Iain Howard just before half time as Jacobs played in a lofted cross from the right Howard met the ball with his head, but the Rushall defender managed to block but only for the ball to fall a yard in front of Howard who attacked the ball but the shot went just over.
It will be a disappointment to County fans to hear that Phil Jevons was forced off the pitch during the first half with a knock but this in turn enabled Dennis to make a return to the County team after a muscle strain.
Into the second half at Edgeley and there was still little to choose from in terms of chances created. The Pics made their chance count as Jimmy Turner perfectly dipped the ball out of Ormson’s reach into his top right corner from a free-kick.
County applied pressure in search of an equaliser but were unable to create much with Rhys Turner providing neat skill down the right flank to beat three players but after much tussling Turner was eventually dispossessed.
A corner awarded to County late on in the game was taken by Lofthouse who glided the ball into the box but The Hatters fell just short of converting the ball into the ‘keepers net with Stephen O’Halloran not quite getting the connection he would have hoped for.
County’s efforts to snatch a late equaliser were too little too late.
