A single goal from trialist Rhys Turner was enough to give County victory against Linotype-Cheadle Heath Nomads, in their last outing before the big kick off against Alfreton on Saturday.
Alan Lord took charge of the team that played at Norbreck Avenue as part of an agreement with the Cheshire League side for their help throughout the summer months, with Hatters boss saying earlier "We are indebted to Nomads for the use of their superb pitch during the summer, and the squad tonight will feature players that will be looking to force their way into the squad for the first game of the season on Saturday against Alfreton."
The first half saw plenty of play in middle of park with neither team creating a goal scoring opportunity until neat work down the left hand side between Turner and Kyle Brownhill saw the full backs cross turned behind for a corner to County. Brownhill's corner being headed over by Tom Baldwin
Turner, at just sixteen, was showing touches above his age, on 25 minutes his header from a Cameron Darkwah cross was just wide whilst 2 minutes later his first touch, from a pass by Zach Rothwell, allowed him to unleash a drive that just cleared the bar.
The Hatters weren't having it all their way and on 32 minutes trialist keeper Ritchie Brannigan made a decent save down to right hand side as a shot came in from distance.
The only goal of the game came soon after as again good work down the left from Brownhill saw Turner head home to give County lead from the full backs superb cross.
The home side were then indebted to their keeper as he foiled Darkwah twice in the space of a minute as County looked for a second goal.

The first corner of the second half should have seen Nomads level as a great opportunity at the far post was headed wide.
Deji Omoboye replaced Ben Say shortly before Rothwell hit the bar from a neat pullback by Turner, the young trialist then heading over on 58 minutes as he continued to impress.
Rothwell was replaced by Brandon Windsor before Tom Collins fired wide after good work from Baldwin on the right. The Irishman then having a goal disallowed for offside.
With County well on top Darkwah raced down the left and unleashed a shot that the keeper did well to tip onto the post on 76 minutes, with the tiring Turner replaced by Sam Mitten minutes later.
Omoboye hit the post from a Darkwah header across goal in the last minute but the home side almost grabbed an unlikely equaliser with Brannigan making a superb save to keep scores level.
