Alan Lord to take charge
Alan Lord met with his players yesterday evening for the first time since being appointed as caretaker manager of Stockport County, following the shock resignation of Ian Bogie. He has been asked to take charge of team affairs for the foreseeable future, starting with this weekend’s home game against Gainsborough Trinity.
Alan had a brief stint as caretaker manager last season following the departure of Jim Gannon in January 2013, when he took charge of the team for the 2-1 home victory over Forest Green. He later worked as a consultant scout for the club before taking the role of Assistant Manager under Ian Bogie.
Alan, who has worked under six different managers since first arriving at Edgeley Park in 2007 has built his reputation on spotting young players from college level and the lower leagues, and has successfully brought in players such as Josh Thompson, Anthony Pilkington, Alex Kenyon, Kristian Dennis and Rhys Turner, many through his links with Myerscough College.
Chairman Lord Peter Snape said: “We are delighted that Alan has agreed to take charge of the first team for the foreseeable future, and the Board has pledged to give him every available resource in order to improve the team.”
