The club is very sad to report the untimely death, earlier this week, of a longstanding and much-loved member of the County Family who, for many years, worked at Edgeley Park on match-days.
Lyndon Smith, who was 55, passed away on Tuesday. He gave unstinting and dedicated service to County for over two decades - firstly as a steward and later, when his health began to decline, as payroll officer.
Ground Safety Officer Gordon Taylor, who worked with Lyndon at Edgeley Park, has paid tribute to his colleague and friend.
“Lyndon was a true gent, and he loved Stockport County.
“The world will be a sadder place without him. Rest in peace, Lyndon.”
Lyndon leaves behind two children - Robert and Victoria - and a two-year-old granddaughter. The thoughts of everyone at County are with them, as well as with his wider family and friends, at this saddest of times.
His funeral has been provisionally arranged for a week tomorrow (Friday, 26th), and further details of this will be posted once they are known.
