County, kicking down the slope, were soon on the attack and had an early chance when McSweeney fed Darran Green who turned smartly but shot just over.

Two minutes later Barry George plucked Greg Tansey's free kick from just under the cross bar.

The Millers responded with a goal of real quality on 12 minutes when Adam Mather left Lloyd Rigby helpless with an angled drive from 25 yards.

Two minutes later the dangerous Green brought another diving save out of George.

Danny Pilkington then clipped a glorious ball into the box that Matty McNeil headed powerfully towards the top corner; George won deserved applause for a wonderful save.

A bumper attendance were enjoying a cracking game that the large County contingent were soon celebrating an equaliser after Matty Mainwaring beat George with a low left-foot drive from outside the box.

New Mills hit back when Stockport-based Carlos Meakin got behind the County defence and rattled the cross bar with a thunderous volley.

But County burst into life on 67 minutes when McSweeney cut in from the right and threaded a brilliant reverse pass to Green. The striker clipped the ball over George only to see Danny Jackson come across to make a magnificent goalline clearance.

Five minutes from the end County had a scare when Greg Tansey lost possession. Paul Garvey let fly from 25 yards and the ball just cleared Rigby's cross bar.
