* This is Stockport County's heaviest-ever Football League defeat, but there were, to say the least, mitigating circumstances. Four players missed the train to Chesterfield meaning that County only took to the field with seven players, and another, Frank Chesworth, suffered broken ribs during the game, meaning that for the majority of the match County only played with six players. To add insult to injury, Chesterfield reported County to the League and claimed a sum of £20 for lost gate receipts, which was later dismissed. However, Stockport County were fined £5 for "playing but seven players".
