LADIES EXTEND UNBEATEN RUN

Posted on: Tue 27 Oct 2009
Seniors
After last week's exciting 3-3 draw away to Tranmere Rovers, which saw Tranmere concede at home for the first time this season and a debut for 16-year-old Kim Seddon, the 1st team extended their unbeaten run to four games last Sunday by beating a determined Scunthorpe side 1-0 to move into third place in the Northern Women's Combination League, thanks to a 36th minute strike from Rachel Williams.

Next Sunday (November 1), County Ladies entertain second-placed South Durham Ladies, kick-off 2pm at Woodley Sports FC - where there's FREE admission.

After conceding 20 goals to County's Reserves on the opening day of the season, Oldham Vixens could be forgiven for thinking things couldn't get any worse when they faced the Reserves again, this time in the League Cup.

Unfortunately for Oldham, it did as they suffered a 23-1 defeat!

County's goals came from Jemma Pratt (8), Grace Campbell (3), Paige Clarke (3), Jade Wilson (3), Cheryl Burns (2), Jeneyah Webb (2), Lianne Clarke and Olivia Hockin. Hannah Kibble was County's player of the match.

Disappointingly, Blues slipped to second-bottom of Division 1 with another heavy defeat, 8-0 against Oldham Athletic. Player of the match was Katie Race. HNR were also beaten, 5-2 against Great Sutton. Donna Haynes and Rachel Brindley scoring for HNR.

Juniors
Despite the 7-0 scoreline against the unbeaten champions from last season, Manchester City, this was another excellent display by the Under-11s, who will be pleased that they don't have to face them again in the league this season. Rebecca Ollerenshaw was County's player of the match.

Goals from Chloe Flanagan, player of the match Grace Byrne and a 25-yard screamer from Lucy Kilheeney saw the Under-12s stretch their unbeaten run to five matches to remain top of the league with an exciting 3-2 win over previously unbeaten Flixton Juniors.

The Under-13s, pictured, also kept their unbeaten record by drawing 2-2 with league leaders, Denton. Kayleigh Seddon and Beth Clark were on target for County and Beth Smith was player of the match.

The Under-15s returned to winning ways with a 2-1 victory over a tough Bolton Wanderers side. County had Jodie Moir to thank for two first-half strikes not to mention superb performances from keeper, Sabrina Burke and player of the match, Taylor Rowe-Catterall.
