COUNTY LADIES UPDATE

Posted on: Wed 25 Nov 2009
SENIORS
All of last Sunday's senior matches were postponed due to the heavy rain. Tomorrow (Sunday 29), the first team are in action in the FA Women's Cup second round. Their opponents are Wakefield Ladies, who were beaten on their last visit to Woodley Sports, 2-1 earlier in the season, so the team are quietly optimistic about their chances of getting their name in the hat for Monday's third round draw. Kick-off is 2.00pm at Woodley Sports, Lambeth Grove, Woodley. FREE Admission!

JUNIORS
A Holly Mottershead strike gave the Under-16s a 1-0 first-half lead in their second group match of the League Cup, away to Wythenshawe Amateurs. Two second-half goals from Alex Wilson and player of the match, Clare Lee, who converted a penalty, made sure of a comfortable 3-0 win.

The Under-15s continued their return to form with a 1-1 draw against Urmston Panthers when a superb 25-yard strike from Phoebe Neild gave County a deserved point. Player of the match was Hazel Robinson.

The Under-13s went to the top of the table with a 3-0 win over Uppermill despite having no substitutes due to illness and injury. Beth Clark, Beth Smith and Chloe Ankers grabbed a goal apiece and Keeley Clarke was player of the match.

The Under-12s 100% start to the season finally came to an end against last season's champions, Poynton. Player of the match, Chloe Flanagan netted her sixth of the season for County in this 5-1 defeat.

Both County's Under-11s teams came up against each other in a real 'derby' match. Both teams had their chances in an exciting first half, but neither could gain the advantage and it remained goalless. County Under-11s DMS keeper, Chyna Ellison deservedly received the player of the match accolade, but even she could do little to stop two quality strikes from County Under-11s player of the match, Natalie Watson. Final score, County Under-11s 2 County Under-11s DMS 0.
