Ladies Update 22/02

Posted on: Thu 22 Jul 2010
SENIORS
All Sunday's senior matches fell victim to the snow. County's Cheshire Cup Quarter-Final away to Warrington Town will now take place on Sunday February, 28.

JUNIORS
County Under-16s ended the 100% record of leaders Denton Town thanks to a first-half-hat trick from Tiree Vallance. Denton opened the scoring in the seventh minute but County responded with three goals in 15 minutes to go 3-1 up. Denton reduced the deficit on 44 minutes and netted the equaliser in the dying minutes.

Dawn Gordon was Player of the Match. Unfortunately, striker Alex Wilson suffered a broken leg in a collision with the Denton keeper and will now miss the rest of the season including the Challenge Cup Final. Everybody involved with County sends their best wishes for a full and speedy recovery.

The Under-15s dismal league form continued with another disappointing display, losing 3-0 away to Urmston Panthers. Player of the match was stand-in captain, Phoebe Neild. They will be hoping for a return to form when they host Fletcher Moss next Saturday in the League Cup Quarter-Final, in what is a repeat of last season's final.

The Under-13s were knocked off the top spot as they went down 3-2 to Chadderton Park, after leading 2-0 at half-time thanks to Zara Wrigley's first of the season and Lydia Henshall's 21st! Player of the match was Kayleigh Seddon.

The Under-12s (photo courtesy of Gary Gomersall) were involved in an entertaining encounter with Flixton Juniors and have now done the double over their rivals with a 3-2 win. With the contest goalless, but evenly balanced at half-time, Flixton came out for the restart, all guns blazing and took the lead within two minutes! County went up a gear and five minutes later equalised through Player of the Match Megan Watson; they then took the lead thanks to a cool finish from Claudia Ross which deflected off a defender on its way into the net. With the match being played end-to-end Flixton netted an equaliser and, as it looked certain that the points would be shared, Chloe Flanagan grabbed her 18th of the season to keep County on top of the table.

County Under-11s DMS came up against an in-form Manchester City, who maintained their 100% league record, with a 10-1 win. First-half keeper, Chyna Ellison swapped positions with Player of the Match Bethan Smith and went on to become the first County player to score against City this season!
