LADIES BOOK CHESHIRE FINAL DATE Stockport County Ladies progressed to the final of the Cheshire FA Ladies Challenge Cup with a narrow 1-0 win over Crewe Alexandra, thanks to a 20th minute strike from Nikki Daniels. This made up for last season's defeat to the same opposition in a quarter-final replay. County will face Chester City who beat holders Tranmere Rovers, also 1-0.
A trip to second-bottom Wakefield in the League ended in a disappointing goalless draw. The only high point being captain Nicola Doig's return to action after almost four months out with an injury sustained in the FA Women's Cup defeat to Sheffield Wednesday (photo courtesy of Gary Gomersall)
In the day's local derby, the Reserves yet again triumphed over Macclesfield. Olivia Hockin, Cheryl Burns, Sophie Williams and player of the match Lisa Mitchell all netted in a 4-1 win.
JUNIORS Cory Fritz and Clare Lee, with first-half strikes, helped the Under-16s beat Deans Sports, 2-1 to give themselves hope of reaching the League Cup Final, providing they win their remaining group matches. Player of the match was Dawn Gordon.
The Under-15s had a comfortable win over Urmston Pumas; Phoebe Neild (2), Jodie Moir (2), Laura Dunn and Hazel Robinson were amongst the goals and Alex Mills was player of the match.
The runners-up spot seems to be slipping away from the Under-13s as they lost to Champions-elect Denton, 2-0. They share the same number of points as Curzon but have only one match remaining compared to Curzon's two.
The Under-12s returned to the top of the table with a 4-1 win over Hillgate Blues. Chloe Flanagan scored an equaliser to ensure the teams were level at half-time, Lauren Blakey put County in front and further goals from Minnie Kenworthy and a second from Chloe saw County take all three points. Player of the match was Megan Watson.
County Under-11s DMS lost out to Hazel Grove, 4-2. Paige Tomlinson and player of the match Megan Banks scored for the Hatters. County's other Under-11s had a resounding 17-0 win over Unicorn; Rebecca Ollerenshaw led the way with four, Aimee Clouston and Melissa Baxter both grabbed a hat-trick each, player of the match Hannah Bardsley (2), Leahanna Jones, 2-own goals and Emily Coupes first of the season completed the scoring.
