SENIORS
After winning the Cheshire FA Ladies Challenge Cup, County returned to league action with a thrilling 6-2 midweek defeat of local rivals, Tranmere Rovers, thanks to goals from Chloe Spencer (2), Nat Thomas (2), Angela Ashioti and Nicola Doig.

Unfortunately, injuries finally took their toll and a depleted squad suffered back-to-back defeats against Bradford City (1-0) and Middlesbrough (0-2), which means that, with three matches still left to play, the highest position they can now achieve is third.

The Middlesbrough match was notable for the debuts of two 16-year olds; Clare Lee and Tyree Vallance. Both players have progressed through the junior ranks and will hope to be pressing for a place in next season's squad.

The Ladies home match takes place next Wednesday, May 12 when Salford Sports visit Woodley Sports; kick-off time is 7.15pm.

The Reserves secured the Division 2 (East) title, and with it promotion to Division 1 of the Cheshire & Manchester WFL with a 3-1 defeat of second-placed, Fletcher Moss Rangers, thanks to a player-of-the-match performance from Olivia Hockin and goals from Sophie Williams, Jess Finch and Cheryl Burns. They then finished off their season with a comfortable 5-0 defeat of Wythenshawe Amateurs with goals from

Sophie Williams (2), Hannah Kibble, an own goal and Jeneyah Webb's 31st of the season. They will now be hoping to repeat Blues memorable feat from 2008 with a League and Cup double when they face Fletcher Moss Rangers in the League Cup Final on Sunday May 16 - 2.30pm kick off at Woodley Sports.

HNR are still looking over their shoulder at other results to ensure safety and a place in Division 1 next season whilst Blues finally succumbed to the inevitable with relegation to Division 2 after successive defeats.

JUNIORS
The Under-16s confirmed their place as league runners up with a match to spare in an exciting encounter with Poynton. Cory Fritz, Holly Mottershead and player-of-the-match, Libbi Nolan grabbing a goal each in a 3-2 win. They will now be concentrating on the Challenge Cup Final where they will face Denton, a repeat of last year's final which Denton won by a solitary goal. The final will take place on Saturday, May 15 at Sale FC, 2.30pm kick off.

The Under-15s also have a cup final to look forward to after a disappointing league season. This will take place tomorrow (May 9) against Barr Hill, 12.30 kick off, also at Sale FC.

The Under-13s are currently joint-second and are unbeaten in their League Cup group. One more win will ensure a semi-final appearance against either Denton or Curzon on May 15.

The Under-12s had to settle for third spot having lost out to the eventual runners up Delamere Rangers after a 4-2 defeat in their final match of the season.

The Under-11s, however, did secure their position as runners up with a 2-0 win over Unicorn thanks to goals from Melissa Baxter and player-of-the-match, Hannah Bardsley.

Under-11s DMS finished their inaugural season with a resounding 9-1 defeat of third-placed Hillgate Blues, 2-goals each from Megan Banks and Millie Culbert along with strikes from Chyna Ellison, Grace Wardle, Charlotte Peacock, Megan Shandley and player-of-the-match Paige Tomlinson's 16th of the season sees them finish in a respectable eighth position.

We are now recruiting junior players to supplement existing squads and to help create new teams in each age group. Training takes place at Woodley Sports FC every Wednesday until May 19. We then take a six-week break and restart on Wednesday July 7. Under-8 to Under-14s, 6 - 7.30pm, Under-15s and Under-16s, 7.30 - 9pm.
