LADIES UPDATE

Posted on: Wed 07 Apr 2010
SENIORS
After last week's disappointing goalless draw away to Wakefield, County Ladies faced another away-day at the weekend, this time to second-placed Middlesbrough.

Nikki Daniels continued her good form with a 26th minute strike to give County the advantage at the half-time break. Disappointingly, though, they conceded three minutes after the re-start and couldn't manage a winner their performance deserved.

Tomorrow (April 11) they are away to a resurgent Blackpool Wren Rovers then, on Sunday, April 18, they face Chester City LFC in the Cheshire FA Ladies Challenge Cup Final at Warrington Town FC. Kick-off 3pm. The last time they made it to the final, they were humbled 5-1 by Tranmere Rovers LFC in 2008.

The Reserves had a blank Sunday but both Blues and HNR were in action in Cheshire & Manchester WFL Division 1;

Two seasons after winning a memorable double - promotion and the League Cup - the Blues are facing the drop back to Division 2 after a 3-1 defeat to Chester City Reserves, despite a spirited performance and going into the break 1-1 thanks to a Rachel Taylor strike. Keeper, Clare Lee was Blues player of the match. They are now nine points adrift of safety.

HNR lost out to Middleton Athletic, 2-1. Kelly Allwood scored what turned out to be a consolation effort.
