Jim Gannon wrote about the importance of the Spirit of the Club in Friday's edition of True Blue.
And, after the pulsating victory over Crewe, his assistant Peter Ward said: "Our fans have got a special spirit, especially the Cheadle End."
Jim and Wardy wouldn't have known, though, they weren't the first to talk about the Hatters unique Spirit.

SPIRIT RIDES HIGH
"A SPIRIT was reborn on the terraces at Edgeley Park on Friday evening - the spirit of ten thousand chanting fans, who watched Stockport County climb back to the top of the Fourth Division.
"It has been a long time since Edgeley Park echoed 'champions' and 'we're the greatest in the land'. If anything will keep the flame burning in the County team - this will."
The fans optimism certainly wasn't misplaced as County were, indeed, crowned champions with three games still to play in one of our greatest-ever seasons.
And now, in our latest on-line auction, we give you the opportunity to own a quite magnificent souvenir of the glorious 1966-67 campaign.
To celebrate the title success a Stockport Express pull-out contained a double-page feature with inspirational words, a team picture and caricatures of the individual County heroes.
Now, that faded newspaper cutting has been lovingly restored by our talented art designer, Colin Holland, to its former glory.
Two A2 prints have been made. One is proudly displayed in the County Boardroom on matchdays; the other could now be yours!
This is a unique and serious piece of County history and will make a fabulous addition to any collection of Hatters memorabilia
