The administrators of Stockport County Association Football Club have agreed terms with the Melrose Consortium for the sale of the football club. The consortium is comprised of a group of businessmen with a sporting background and is headed by Jim Melrose.

A further statement will be issued shortly, however a spokesperson for the Melrose consortium said: "We look forward to developing a fruitful relationship with Sale Sharks and Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council which will provide the basis for a successful future for Stockport County Football Club."
