When County face Oldham Athletic at Edgeley Park on January 16, the Bobby Peel Supporters Club will be doing another sponsored walk - this time from Oldham's Boundary Park to EP, to raise money for Leukaemia Research.
And the intrepid group received a boost recently with a message of support from none other than Sir Ian Botham.
The legendary cricketer, and veteran of many a charity walk, said: "Best of luck to all the Stockport County fans who are taking on this fundraising walk.
"I've been walking for Leukaemia Research for 25 years now and I never forget why I put myself through the pain and blisters - to help more people who are diagnosed with these cancers survive. I urge everyone to get behind these fans and lend them your support."
Fans who wish to join in the sponsored walk can speak to Phil Robinson, Peter Towey or Andy Plant from the Bobby Peel Supporters Club, who can be found on matchdays in The Florist pre-match, or The Sir Robert Peel post-match.
Alternatively, you can email them at
walk2010@live.co.uk Walkers will meet at The Sir Robert Peel at 6:15 am and be ferried to Oldham for the start of the walk at 7:45am.
A support vehicle will kindly be provided by Pollards Coaches and maps/directions of the route will be provided by the organizers. A brief pub break in Denton will be available for those who wish for a bit of a rest! The walk will finish at The Sir Robert Peel in Edgeley.
Please be advised, anyone taking part will be expected to raise at least £50 and we close the book on registrations on the 24th Dec 09.
If you don't fancy joining the walk, please sponsor someone who's taking part and helping out an incredibly worthy cause.
