LINCOLN & MACC CELEBRATE KEITH'S LIFE

Posted on: Wed 10 Mar 2010
Macclesfield Town and Lincoln City are inviting supporters of every club who has been touched by the presence of Keith Alexander to their games this weekend.

On Friday night, Keith's hometown club Lincoln host Hereford United at Sincil Bank. And on Saturday, The Silkmen face Bury, a club where Keith was recently Director of Football, at the Moss Rose in their first home game since the sad passing of the hugely popular football man.

"It is very fitting that we should be playing a club with links to Keith Alexander," said Silkmen vice chairman Andy Scott. "And whilst Bury supporters will obviously be well represented on the day, we are also inviting supporters of every club which Keith either played for or managed to the Moss Rose this weekend."

"Keith was a real football man," added Andy. "And we can't think of a better tribute than to see fans sporting their colours on the terraces remembering his achievements with their clubs."

The invitation is not only for clubs who have been in some way represented by Keith Alexander as any football fans will be more than welcome at the Moss Rose.

At Sincil Bank, to supplement the evening's programme of events, a giant screen will be installed in the corner of the Stacey West Stand and the Echo Stand and during the course of the pre-match build-up, some memorable moments from Keith's career with the Imps will be broadcast.

Turnstiles will open at 6.30pm and following the pre-match entertainment, which will start at approximately 7.00pm, along with the parading of the World Cup™ Trophy by 1966 winner Martin Peters, a minute's applause for Keith will take place before the game against Hereford kicks off.

The invitation to share in the celebration of Keith's life is also open to all football fans with a special 'neutral zone' being in operation for supporters of any club to come along and pay their respects. Tickets can be purchased online at www.redimps.com/tickets or in person at the Sincil Bank ticket office between the hours of 9.00am and 5.00pm, Monday to Friday. Alternatively, call the ticket office during working hours on (01522) 880011.
