Countyunite's latest initiative is really gathering momentum.
The new website, which has already raised more than £3,000 to purchase equipment for Manor Farm, is hoping to raise another substantial sum from a special 5-a-side competition on Sunday, March 28.
It's no ordinary competition, though, as Gary Ablett has promised to manage a County team; Paul Gerrard, Craig Madden and Richard Landon have already confirmed their participation.
And now Manchester City, led by Jim Melrose, will add a real derby flavour to the competition by entering a team as well.
Lining up with Jim will be former Hatters' keeper Andy Dibble, Peter Barnes, Ian Scott, Kenny Clemence and Andy May.
Don't forget that Gary Ablett has invited the winning team to get together a squad of 14 to go along and train at Manor Farm before playing an 11-a-side game against the Hatters.
Countyunite are looking for a maximum of 48 teams to play in the tournament which will kick off at Power League (just off Didsbury Road, Heaton Norris), at 12 noon.
The price per player is just £10 and you can register at
www.countyunite.co.uk the County Club Store or Power League itself. Don't delay, though, places are going very quickly now and registration will close on March 14.
Every penny raised from this terrific initiative will directly benefit Gary and the boys at Timperley so please do your very best to support the event.
