SOUTHEND AWAY!

Posted on: Thu 17 Jun 2010

Stockport County will open their League 2 campaign with a long trip to the seaside to face another relegated team, Southend United, ironically the final away game of last season. The game in Essex will take place on Saturday, August 7.

Seven days later the Hatters welcome another relegated club, Wycombe Wanderers to Edgeley Park for their first home game.

The Blue & White Army don't have too long to wait for their first-ever trip to Burton Albion as they travel to the Pirelli Stadium on October 2 for a game that will create a unique record; County will then have played a competitive game against every one of the other 91 professional clubs in England.

Fans hoping for an overnight stop in Morecambe will be disappointed; the game at the Shrimps new stadium will be played on Tuesday, November 2. Accrington Stanley away will also be a Tuesday night game. The trip to Chesterfield's new ground is scheduled for New Year's Day.

Christmas sees a home game on Boxing Day against Rotherham United with a trip to Barnet two days later. And we will have a double header against Port Vale on Easter Saturday (away) and Northampton Town (home) on Easter Monday.

The final away game of the season is sure to be a sell out as we make the short trip across Cheshire to face old rivals Crewe Alexandra, before we bring the curtain down on another season, on May 7, with a home clash against Cheltenham Town.
