PICK THAT ONE OUT! ... Alfy's spectacular overhead kick puts County 2-0 up |
Jim made wholesale changes as he looked to put an end to the slump in recent games.
Michael Malcolm, Keith Briggs, Mark Robinson and Liam Dickinson were dropped to the bench. Adam Griffin, Tony Dinning, Adam Le Fondre and Tes Bramble came in to replace them.
Barnet included former Gillingham manager, Andy Hessenthaler in their line-up alongside Stockport-born, Paul Warhurst.
There were calls for a penalty just 15 seconds into the game when Alfie was bundled over by Lee Harrison, but the referee, unlike his name was no friend of County's and he waved away the protests.
County were to continue with their high tempo, Bramble in particular looking sharp. The Bees really didn't get a sniff.
Their was almost a moment of magic on the 13th minute mark when Tony Dinning put in a wonderful curling free kick that nearly gave the skipper his first goal in County blue for six years. It wasn't to be and County continued with their search for an opening goal.
GOAL! County's persistence finally paid off when Tes Brambles low shot was blocked by the keeper, only for the rebound to be smashed into the roof of the net by the on-loan David Poole, for his first goal in County colours.

Pooley turns away in celebration after firing County in front |
Poole went agonisingly close with ten minutes remaining when he was fed the ball from midfield and his shot across goal went inches wide from making the game County's.
Second Half
County were given an indirect free kick 5 minutes into the game following a pass back. The resulting free kick was wasted though when Dinning left it for Taylor, but the young midfielder got to the ball too late and it was well cleared by the Bees backline.
GOAL! Seconds later though County were two up when the ball was floated into the box and Adam Le Fondre pulled off a wonderful overhead kick to send the home fans into a frenzy.
County slowly lost the tempo as the game progressed, but the Bees could not find a way past the fierce County rearguard.
Liam Dickinson very nearly put the cherry on top of the cake when he ran into the box unmarked and his low shot rebounded back off the near post.
There was a story about a mad Doctor that used to have a nasty alter ego. Thankfully for County the County fans it was the mad doctor they got today. Hopefully he will put a few more appearances in over the course of the season.
