At a very wet and windy Edgeley Park County set out to end their recent home slump in style

Adam Nowland was handed his County League debut as Jim Gannon made two changes from the side beaten by Lincoln City on Tuesday.

The midfielder replaced Greg Tansey who missed out after reporting ill on Thursday.

The other change saw Adam Proudlock replace Anthony Elding up front.

Liam Dickinson had the first chance of the game when he burst down the right flank and into the area but his powerful shot went just wide. Dicko had another attempt moments later that was blocked by the Wanderers defence, following a good pass by Griffin.

The pitch was clearly causing some problems for the players, as the ball would not roll very far. This didn't seem to bother Adam Nowland though who delivered a wonderful 18 yard free-kick that went just wide of the post.

The mud almost helped County when the ball stopped rolling in front of Fielding, following a Dicko cross. Unfortunately Proudlock could not turn to execute the ball.

As it went for County it very nearly went against them, when Gareth Owen's pass back to Logan got lodged in the mud. Sutton tried to make the most of it but Owen did well to redeem himself.

A good ball from Nowland found Proudlock in the area but Fielding made a wonderful save to deny County.

There were a number of decisions that went against Adam Proudlock that clearly incensed him as County, on top for long periods, struggled to find a way through.

Proudlock was jumping for joy on the 35th minute though when he converted an excellent Michael Rose cross to send the vociferous County support into wild applause.

Liam Dickinson's excellent 18 yard effort bounced off the right-hand post and in to the back of the net to get Edgeley Park rocking as The Hatters went two up.

County continued to press but at half-time County were leading for the first time in three months.

Second Half

David Poole's good cross found Liam Dickinson in space but the goalscorer shot high and wide in the first chance of the second half.

The talented number 7 was again involved moments later with his bursting run into the area, but no-one could get on the end of the ball as another chance went begging.

A comedy throw from Sam Stockley provided the Main Stand with a chuckle as the rain continued to come down at Edgeley Park.

Wycombe very nearly pulled one back with a thunderous volley that Logan did well to punch over, but County were very much in control and not going to surrender their lead. Logan did well to deny Sutton from close range as the game edged to the hour mark.

The Hatters were in wonderland on the hour when Dickinson flicked the ball to Proudlock burst forward and smashed the ball home from the edge of the area with a fantastic solo effort.

Four-midable County were further ahead when Dickinson burst forward and Christon put the ball into his own net.

It could have been even better for County when Proudlock  burst forward, but his excellent cross could not be turned home.

The impressive Adam Nowland delivered a fantastic ball to his namesake Proudlock, but this time the mud got the better of the man of the match. The wonderful County support gave it the recognition it deserved though with a round of applause.

The on-fire Proudlock very nearly made it five, when with his back to goal he got on the end of a Dicko cross, turned and shot and it went just wide.

Proudlock got the hat-trick he so craved when straight from a rare Wycombe attack he saw the keeper off his line and launched a powerful shot from 45 yards that nestled into the back of the County goal.

County were coasting when Martin turned the ball past his own keeper, following another good cross from David Poole.

The confidence was plain to see as County started to play with an air about them that had been missing in recent weeks.

Anthony Elding went agonisingly close with a good header from a Briggs cross on the 90th minute mark that went just wide of the far post.

On the final whistle the Cheadle End rose to salute a magnificent County performance - the biggst home win since Hartlepool were beaten by the same score in 1989.
