THE LADS WILL GET SOME GOOD RESULTS - MARTIN

Despite all the uncertainty and speculation swirling around the club at present, County chairman Martin Reid is at least pleased with the way Jim Gannon, his coaching staff and players, are getting on with preparations for Saturday's huge home game against Millwall.

It can't be an easy time for any of the Hatters' staff at the moment, but life does go on and manager Gannon's team will face another stern test against the Lions this weekend.

Reid told the Express: "At the end of the day all of the training staff are very professional, they'll just get on with their jobs.

"I have spoken to Jim since my club statement on Saturday. We had a good, long conversation on Sunday evening. I explained where we were at, and he went through one or two other ideas he had regarding what he thought we needed to do in the near future.

"Jim does play a very young team and they're going to get some good results. There will no doubt be a couple of games where they may just misfire. Jim and I both realise that, but he is working with some special young talent and he's already proved what he can do with the lads.

"He has rolled his sleeves up like everyone else and just got stuck in. We've let a couple of players go, but Jim has also been looking to bring some loan players in.

"Some of our youngsters do deserve their chance though. Playing the likes of Oli Johnson and Matty Mainwaring has already started to reap dividends. They're learning quickly, and that can only be good for them."

Meanwhile, it does appear that the hugely astute Gannon's plan of action for County as a club over the next 18 months is one that has not been thrown together in double quick time, as Reid also acknowledged.

The County chairman added: "Jim first started work on his survival plan just before Christmas, it's some document.

"He's a very bright guy though, he's a trained accountant and he understands the business. He could see where there were one or two problems with us being over budget."

Reid revealed that he is set for more meetings with Gannon as the week progresses.
