GETTING ON WITH OUR FOOTBALL - TOMMY

County's Saturday match-winner Tommy Rowe has revealed that rather than worrying about the club's off-field problems, the management and players are focused on the League One play-off positions.

Of course there are currently concerns behind the scenes for the Hatters, but Rowe has told the Express that he and his team-mates are just getting on with trying to keep the victories on the pitch rolling in.

Rowe said: "For us it's important to try and pay no attention to what goes on behind the scenes and, looking back, I think all the lads have shown that that's the case in our last three games against Millwall, Cheltenham and Carlisle.

"We're just getting on with our football and enjoying it. That's what the players are here for - to keep doing our best for the club and the fans.

"Everybody is aware of what's going on behind the scenes, but there's nothing the players can do about it so there's no point in any of us getting upset of losing concentration at any point.

"We'll just keep focused on the football and keep doing what we've got to do. That's our job at the end of the day."

Rowe added: "Everybody in the changing room is talking about the play-offs - the gaffer, Wardy, everybody is buzzing.

"They've said whatever is going on behind the scenes, we'll just keep fighting and plugging away to try and get results like Saturday's. Hopefully if we can keep this form up, you never know where we might end up at the end of the season."

Rowe was unsurprisingly delighted with his 70th minute winner at Brunton Park - his seventh goal of the season. He now leads County's scoring charts.

Rowe added: "I'm really pleased, I didn't expect to score seven goals this season I have to admit.

"I'm usually there for crossing the ball into the box, but it is great to be scoring.

"I usually set myself various targets, but in terms of goals I didn't say to myself that I was after 10 goals or anything.

"At the start of the season I simply said to myself that I wanted to score as many as possible, then push on from there. I am hopeful of getting into double figures this season now though, that's for sure."
Hot property Rowe's winner at Carlisle again earned praise from his gaffer, Jim Gannon, after Saturday's game.

He added: "Tommy's scored late winners away from home for us a few times this season now. But his all-round contribution was once again excellent at Carlisle."

This week's Stockport Express is out now, priced 46p
