Ashton-born Jason began his career with Oldham Athletic, and it was playing for Oldham reserves that he was spotted by Jim Gannon. 'Jaybo' joined County on loan in 2005/06, playing nine games as the Hatters completed their Great Escape that season.
The following August, County paid the Latics a nominal fee to bring the then-19-year-old to Edgeley Park full time, and he's hardly been out of the side since, making 87 league appearances in the following two seasons. He picked up the Stockport County Young Player of the Season award for the 2006/07 season.
A tenacious terrier in midfield, in 2007/08 he ended up being given more license to run forward and become more attack-minded, which was duely rewarded in the Cheshire Derby game against Macclesfield on Good Friday, 2008 when Taylor scored both goals in our 2-0 victory.
