Michael is a tall central defender who turned professional in March 2005 after a successful traineeship at Edgeley Park
His professional debut came three months earlier, in an FA Cup-tie against Swansea City, and his impressive performances throughout the rest of the campaign saw him pick up the club's Young Player of the Year award.
