Paul joined County's Centre of Excellence at 11 years old and he holds a unique record of turning out for County's youth, reserve and first teams whilst still at school.
His youth team debut came in November 2004 at Bury. Next up was his Central League debut at Wrexham in the April. And his first-team debut came against the same opposition as a substitute at Edgeley Park in the penultimate game of the 2004-05 season to become the youngest ever player to make a Football League appearance for the Hatters.
Originally a striker, a broken leg saw him miss nearly a whole season of football. On his recovery and return, he'd adapted to become a central midfield, and it was in this position that he began to make his breakthrough into the first team.
Paul joined Altrincham on loan in 2007-08, playing six games, and was so impressive on his return to Edgeley Park that he started all threev victorious play-off games.
Turnbull's first County goal came in 08-09, during a thrilling Friday night derby match against Oldham Athletic, equalising for County before the Hatters eventually won 3-1.
The following season, he became a regular in the side, starting more than half the games that season and scoring a double during a 5-0 win over Tooting & Mitcham in the FA Cup.
In Automn 2010, he doubled his goal tally in the space of a week. First County were 2-0 down to Aldershot Town at Edgeley Park until a late Turnbull double gave County a point, and then a pinpoint header gave the Hatters the lead the next weekend away to Burton Albion (a game unfortunately lost 2-1).
Turnbull was a virtual ever-present in the County midfield, also finishing the season with five goals to his name.
