George started his career at Liverpool, but left the academy at 18.
He joined Unibond League side Skelmersdale United, where his goalscoring exploits caught the attention of a number of League clubs.
Jim Gannon's Stockport County were one of the first teams after him but, with County unable to afford a fee, he joined Plymouth Argyle in March 2009.
Unable to break into the Argyle side, he spent part of 09/10 on loan at Luton, then joined County on loan in January 2010, scoring 4 in 19 appearances.
He returned to Edgeley Park on loan in the summer of 2010 under Paul Simpson.
