Adswood & Bridgehall residents are encouraged to come along to a 'You Say, We Pay' event at Bridgehall Community Centre on Saturday 19th November, 10am-2pm.
The Safer Stockport Partnership event, organised by the Adswood & Bridgehall Neighbourhood Management Board which includes Stockport Council and the Police, will give Adswood & Bridgehall residents the chance to decide how money should be spent to best improve their community.
Community groups have the opportunity to bid for a slice of £30,000 of funding by giving a short presentation. Residents use an interactive voting system to decide which projects they think will benefit the community most.
A total of 20 projects have been put forward by groups seeking funding. All the projects will have an impact on:
- Making people feel safer
- Creating stronger communities
- Help to ensure Adswood & Bridgehall has a good quality environment
- Improved health and mental well-being for Adswood & Bridgehall residents
Amongst other organisations, Stockport County Community Foundation will be delivering a presentation to try and secure funding to deliver 'free' soccer courses and coaching in Adswood/Bridgehall throughout 2012.
Stockport Council, Stockport Homes, Community Foundation, NHS Stockport, and George Bethell Ltd have provided the funding for the 12th event held in Stockport.
Councillor Mark Weldon, Executive Member for Communities said: "I would encourage residents to attend this exciting event which has previously attracted 100s of residents and project supporters. We are also pleased to announce that Jim Gannon, the new Stockport County FC Director of Football, will be our Master of Ceremonies for the event."
