Outstanding prospect Courtney Meppen-Walter is a six-foot-three giant, left-sided, ball-playing centre half, who has also been deployed as a holding midfielder by manager James Gannon. The former England youth international played 17 times for his country and captained England at Under-18 level during the early years of his career at Manchester City. The Hatters fought off competition from a number of Football League clubs to secure Courtney’s signature.
He left the Cumbrians at the end of 2015 and, following a brief spell at Ashton United, joined Chorley on a non-contract basis in March 2016, scoring one goal in ten appearances in the National League North. After leaving Manchester City he signed for Carlisle United in November 2013 and spent two years at Brunton Park, scoring two goals in 34 appearances.
