The Club is delighted to announce the signing of Josh Barnes on a 1 year contract to Edgeley Park.
The 22-year-old former Derby County goalkeeper played for the under-18’s, 21’s and 23’s during his time at the club. He has also enjoyed loan spells at Mickleover Sports, Eastleigh, Bedworth United and Farsley Celtic.
First Team Goalkeeping Coach, Karl Lenaghan said:
“All the staff and management team are really pleased that Josh has signed with us. In his trial period he has shown that he has both the mental and physical qualities needed to be a real success with us at this level.”
“The management team wanted to bring in a keeper that could not only complement our style of play but also compliment Ben and the squad, and be able to step in to the 1st team readily. Josh has all these qualities, he’s a confident outgoing individual who always works hard in training.”
“Josh, who is a product of Derby County’s youth system, signed his first professional contract in 2016, so has first hand experience of the commitment required to be a professional footballer. We feel that he will embrace our ideology and ethos here at Stockport and will be an exciting and positive addition to the squad.”
