Bucket collection this Monday for SPARC

Stockport County is proud to be supporting Stockport Progress and Recovery Football Committee during Monday’s game against Hartlepool United at Edgeley Park.

There will be a charity bucket collection taking place ahead of kick-off, with volunteers located around the ground looking to raise vital funds for the charity. If you are able, we ask that supporters please give generously for a great cause.

See below for a message from the charity:

Stockport Progress and Recovery Centre (formerly Stockport Day Centre) is a local voluntary organisation providing support to adults in the Stockport area who experience mental health problems!

We offer a range of leisure, therapeutic, educational & social groups & activities and facilities, developed in consultation with our clients in order to promote social integration, mental and physical health and general overall wellbeing and inclusion.

Added to this we also have a Counselling Service, a Youth Project, a Women’s group, Psychological Healing Service as well as a one-to-one bespoke support service called SPARC4ME.

Our service is aimed at adults living in the Stockport aged 18+ who are suffering/experiencing severe and enduring mental health problems. We are unable to offer support to individuals whose main problem is drug, alcohol misuse or learning difficulties/disabilities; however, we do have members with dual diagnosis.

SPARC’s Football Committee has been created to represent and act on behalf of SPARC’s Football Group, as well as all SPARC’s members. Its purpose is create, organise, and bring into effect fundraising opportunities to raise finances, organise football competitions, tournaments, and leagues, as well as all manner of physical activities and events, and to make connections and network with other similar organisations with a view to joint working. The aim is to promote good mental and physical health, whilst challenging stigma, discrimination, and intolerance within football and the wider community.

We can’t wait to come back to Edgeley Park this weekend, and we’d like to thank everyone who is able to support us.
