We are delighted to announce that Liam Cash and his Groundskeeping staff have been named as the winners of the League Two Grounds Team of the Season for League Two.
The award celebrates the staff who work tirelessly throughout the season, and in all weathers, to ensure that pitch surfaces are of the highest quality.
Pitches are assessed by the referee for all EFL League matches. The top Clubs from each division with the highest divisional average are then visited by members of the team from STRI (Sports Turf Research Institute), where further assessments are carried out, which cover pitch quality, environmental conditions and usage, resources, management and sustainability.
The pitch at Edgeley Park was one of three highly commended surfaces in League Two last season, but this year Cashy and the team have picked up the main award. The playing surface at Edgeley Park has played a big part in the team’s success this season as we secured our first EFL title in 57 years, with this award deserved recommendation for all the hard work that Liam and his team put in day in, day out.
