Our first full season back in the Football League is complete, but the games are still coming thick and fast for Dave Challinor’s Stockport County, with six fixtures coming up in September.
County v AFC Wimbledon – Saturday 3rd September
County start the month back at Edgeley Park, as we take on recently relegated AFC Wimbledon looking to get back to winning ways. We haven’t lost at Edgeley Park since the opening day, beating Colchester and drawing with Leicester City and Swindon Town, but Dave Challinor will be keen for three points here to kick-start our season.
It will be the first ever meeting between the two Clubs – AFC Wimbledon were one of the sides who replaced us in the Football League following our relegation in 2011, and are one of only two sides in the entire Football League we have yet to face along with Crawley Town. Tranmere Rovers v County – Friday 9th September
Friday night football is back for County, as we travel to Dave Challinor’s old club Tranmere Rovers looking for a first away league win of the season. Fittingly, the game will be DC’s 50th in charge of County, against the Club he made over 150 appearances for as a player.
Having sold out our initial allocation, we have been sent an additional 600 tickets for this game – these will go on general sale from 10am on Monday 5th September.
Crawley Town v County – Tuesday 13th September
County then take on the other side we have yet to face in any competition, as we make the long journey down to Crawley Town on a Tuesday night. The Red Devils recently beat Premier League Fulham in the Carabao Cup but have yet to win in League Two, picking up two points from their opening six games under new manager Kevin Betsy.
Ticket information for this game will be made available in due course.
County v Harrogate Town – Saturday 17th September
Our second home game of the month sees us welcome Harrogate Town to Edgeley Park. It will be the second time this season we’ve faced the Yorkshire side, having knocked them out of the Carabao Cup earlier in the season thanks to Connor Jennings penalty. At the time of writing, they sit just three points above us in the league table.

County v Wolves U21s – Tuesday 20th September
County are then in Papa John’s Trophy action the following Tuesday, as we take on a Wolverhampton Wanderers U21s side at Edgeley Park. Having lost our opening Group C game at Port Vale, County will be looking for a three points that keeps alive our chances of progressing through to the knockout stage of the competition, against a Wolves side who beat Shrewsbury in their group opener.
Ticket information for this game will be announced in due course.
Northampton Town v County – Saturday 24th September
We then complete the month with arguably the toughest game, as we travel to promotion contenders Northampton Town. The Cobblers missed out on automatic promotion by the narrowest of margins last season, and have started strongly again this year – currently sitting in sixth place. This fixture will be a 2pm kick-off, to avoid a clash with Northampton Saints who play later on the same day.
Ticket information for this game will be announced in due course.
