On day fifteen of our #CountyChristmas countdown, we go back to March, and a trip to East Lincolnshire that saw the Hatters move top of the National League North table in style!
The Hatters made the trip to Boston for their game in hand on leaders Chorley, knowing that a win would see us leapfrog the Magpies into 1st place for the first time since the opening week of the season.
Chances were at a premium in a tense first-half, with the game goalless at the break and the hosts looking a real threat when going forwards – County had it all to do.
Backed by a superb travelling contingent of Hatters however, County got the goal they so desperately craved 10 minutes into the half, Darren Stephenson steering County in front with a ridiculous kung-fu style effort, to settle the nerves.
Ten minutes later, and County fans really were starting to believe, Elliot Osborne firing home at the second attempt to double County’s lead.
Boston pulled one back from the penalty spot, but the win was sealed in style by a goal that only Frank Mulhern could score; cutting inside brilliantly before dinking an effort back across goal and into the top corner, to send County all the way to the National League North summit.
