Just five more days to go! Next up on our #CountyChristmas Countdown, we look back on one of the finest goals scored at Edgeley Park this calendar year, as a stunning dipping volley from Elliot Osborne sealed victory over Eastleigh.
After finally claiming our first win of the National League season, at the fourth attempt, in the previous game against Barrow, County faced an Eastleigh side who made it all the way to the play-off semi-finals the previous campaign.
In our first ever meeting against the ‘spitfires’, it proved to be something of an uneventful first-half following the excitement of that Tuesday night win, with the game goalless at the break.
Just before the hour mark though, and County finally brought the game to life by edging in front – Adam Thomas played in by Connor Dimaio and slotting home his third goal in as many games.
That goal sparked the visitors into life as they pushed hard for an equaliser, before a moment of true magic settled the game – step forward, Elliot Osborne.
Picking up Dan Cowan’s throw-in 25 yards from goal, County’s joint-top scorer spun and unleashed an unbelievable dipping half-volley that sailed into the top corner to settle the contest.
It was an early goal of the season contender for Elliot, and a moment that those watching will never forget, as County made it back-to-back wins in the National League!
