County Honoured in Stockport Business Awards!

Stockport County has been honoured in the Stockport Business Awards following the high-profile gigs staged in June at Edgeley Park featuring Blossoms and Paul Heaton and Jacqui Abbott.

The club was Highly Commended at the Business Awards, under the Marketing category.

The awards, organised and sponsored by Clarke Nicklin Chartered Accountants, saw more than 80 businesses from across the borough enter the 13 categories this year.

The judging panel consisted of headline sponsor representatives from Clarke Nicklin, Gorvins Solicitors and Handelsbanken. They were joined by representatives from Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council, Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce and  Ashcroft Creative.

The prestigious awards dinner took place at Stockport Town Hall and raised £4,700 for Stockport CP Society through a charity raffle.

The club was represented at the event by directors Steve Bellis, Malcolm Cooke and Jon Keighren, alongside the Commercial team of Simon Dawson and Zahra Fattah and Maintenance Manager Rick Hinks.

County Director Jon Keighren, who submitted the club’s successful entry, said: “We are delighted to have been recognised at the awards, after bringing more than 45,000 people into Edgeley to spend their money here in Stockport over three wonderful nights last June. The award we have received reflects the positive economic impact we have made in the borough.”

Commercial Manager Simon Dawson said: “This award is a massive tribute to the efforts of our club staff who worked so hard to make the gigs such a success, and I would personally like to thank Zahra Fattah and Rick Hinks, who rose brilliantly to this unique challenge. I am confident the club will repeat this kind of event in the future, given the overwhelmingly positive feedback we have received since the summer.”
