There was plenty of action for the Ladies teams over the weekend with mixed results, as the first-team finished their league campaign, and our U18s were crowned Champions of Cheshire.

Under 18s win cup final:
Our U18s side managed to secure another trophy for the Club last Sunday, as they were crowned Cheshire FA U18 County Cup Champions with a 3-1 win over Oxton Ladies U18s.
Despite coming up against an Oxton side who did the league double over us during the season, County raced into a 2-0 lead in the first-half at Macclesfield, before adding a third after the break. Oxton grabbed one back from the penalty spot with ten minutes to go, but never looked like mounting a comeback, as County saw out the game to secure the trophy.
It follows the men’s first team winning the Cheshire Senior Cup a few weeks ago, and the Ladies’ first-team will be looking to follow in both teams’ footsteps when they take on Tranmere Rovers in their Cheshire County Cup final on Sunday 15th May, looking to make it a Cheshire Cup treble for the Club this season.
First-team close out league campaign:
Steve O’Hara’s first-team had a disappointing end to their league campaign at the weekend with defeat at home to high-flying Durham Cestria at Stockport Sports Village. The result means County will finish the season in 6th place in the FA Women’s National League Division One North.
Manager O’Hara said:
“It was a disappointing way to end our League campaign, we never really got going. Credit to Durham Cestria, they’re the best team I’ve seen since arriving at the Club, and that’s the gap we are looking to close next season.”
Focus now turns to the Women’s County Cup Final in two weeks v Tranmere Rovers, as we hope to end the season on a high and bring home some silverware in our final game of the 2021/22 season.
Everyone at the Club is also really excited to be able to watch the FA Women’s National League playoff final between Southampton and Wolves on the 21st of May. The second time Edgeley Park will have hosted high level women’s football this season – click here to purchase tickets for the game.
