County Youngster Aaron Akers Returns After Battle with Lymphoma

Aaron Akers is a signed Under 10s player who recently defeated Lymphoma and now is focused on getting back to his best.

Visiting hospital on 29th June 2022, Aaron and his family received the devastating news that he had Lymphoma, a cancer that affects the Lymph system in the body.

The youngster received numerous treatments and took time away from football to recover, but made his return to action in September and marked it in style, bagging a goal against Sheffield Wednesday.

Aaron continues his recovery and is playing more and more regular football for the Under 10 team, making excellent progress.

Michael Akers, Aaron’s father, said: “After his chemotherapy he was back home for two weeks, had some good and bad days, but he was still weak, and tried to do a little bit of training in the back garden.

After his chemotherapy was finished, he came back to training. I believe it was 15th August 2022, and he’s gone from strength to strength, and now he’s back playing.”

Aaron has been making a steady comeback into Junior Academy football and will be looking to build upon his impressive restart and get back to his best as the season progresses.
