The Club are delighted to announce the appointment of Alex Cowdy as Head of Football Administration.
Bringing 20 years of football industry experience to Edgeley Park, this newly formed role will see Alex manage all areas of football administration, from player contracts, co-ordination with the league and regulatory bodies to operational processes at the Training Centre and matchdays.
He spent the early part of his career as a licensed football agent spotting and representing talent from lower leagues and securing moves into Premier League and Championship clubs. His career then moved into football administration with previous roles including CEO at Blackpool FC and Club Secretary at Nottingham Forest FC.
Simon Wilson, Director of Football said:
“I and the wider management team at County would like to extend a warm welcome to Alex Cowdy, an experienced football administrator and operator over the last 20 years across clubs, players, and organisations within the game.
Alex is another in the camp with the skill and know-how of the upper levels of the game, but with the appetite to roll his sleeves up and get stuck in to our immediate challenges. Like many of us, he has experienced the good and the bad of club management and comes here with an ambition to build both a successful and sustainable club for the future.
I am sure he will thrive in the dynamic environment we have here and enjoy working with like-minded and talented people already at County. All of which are hungry for success and will play a significant role in the future development of our club.”
Alex Cowdy said:
“I’m absolutely delighted to join Stockport County Football Club. I was fortunate enough to have been offered senior positions at several EFL clubs, but after meeting the club’s senior management and hearing about Mark Stott’s plans for the future, it was an easy decision to make. I’m really looking forward to working closely with Director of Football Simon Wilson and being part of an exciting journey.”
