Stockport County can confirm Darren Stephenson sustained a double-fracture of his fibula following a challenge during the final minutes of our 2-0 win at Oldham on Saturday afternoon.
Darren indicated a serious problem whilst being examined on the pitch by First Team Physio, Luke Smith. After being helped off the pitch and taken into the changing room, he was immediately taken to the Royal Oldham Hospital.
He will now wear a cast for two weeks in order to help immobilise and support his ankle. It is suggested that Darren will face up to 14 weeks on the side-line before he is able to return to action, though this is dependent on how his treatment and rehabilitation programmes progress.
Luke Smith said, “We are currently following medical procedures and should see Darren return fitter and stronger than before.”
