We have been drawn into Group E in the Northern Section of the EFL Trophy, alongside Bolton Wanderers and Salford City.
The draw to decide which U21s side will join us in the group will be made at 11.30am on Thursday 22nd July, live on Sky Sports.
League One Bolton are the current holders of the competition, having beaten Plymouth 4-0 in the final back in April. It will be our first completive meeting against the Trotters since that unforgettable 5-3 FA Cup triumph in 2021.
It will also mean yet another match-up against Salford, who we faced four times over the course of last season – beating them on penalties in the League Two play-off semi-final. The Ammies were winners of the competition themselves in 2019, when beating Portsmouth on penalties in the final.
