First-Team Players Study UEFA B Licence at Stockport Sports Village

A number of County players have been working towards their UEFA B Licence in recent weeks.

Paddy Madden, Ryan Croasdale, Myles Hippolyte, Ryan Johnson, Fraser Horsfall, Will Collar, Elliot Newby and former player Sam Minihan all took to the pitches at Stockport Sports Village to showcase their coaching abilities. Each player will coach one of our Football Education teams as a part of their practical assessment.

It is the 2nd year the program has run with the support form the PFA (Professional Footballer’s Association) with Ash Palmer, Ben Hinchliffe, Antoni Sarcevic, Connor Jennings, Paul Turnbull, Liam Hogan and John Rooney completing the award in 2021/22. The players will be supported by First Team Coach and FA Tutor Dave Conlon and is part of the club’s commitment to wider personal development to players and staff.

The players must identify five key areas while completing the course:

  • Develop medium-term curriculum/programme planning
  • Develop coaching behaviour and practice, aligned to players in training and games
  • Develop understanding of the 4-corner model and its relationship with player development
  • Apply principles of play to individual players and units of players
  • Identify and develop coaching strengths and areas for development

The participants must complete their UEFA B Licence as a minimum requirement to gain a job at any academy and must also complete coursework to show their understanding of the practical element. This will prove beneficial not only to the participants, but the Football Education students too.
