We are delighted to announce that the Food for Christmas campaign has raised over £200,000 for food related causes in Stockport this Christmas.
We’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has donated. We have been absolutely overwhelmed with the generosity of fans, corporate sponsors, and local residents.
Your donations have gone to so many good causes that will have a huge impact on local families this Christmas.
- 16+ age group – We have partnered with Stockport College, Aquinas College, The Cheadle College and Marple College to donate funds to those students on a bursary place plus students where their families are experiencing financial hardship therefore are eligible for discretionary support.
- Early years age group- We have allocated funding for early years children whose families are experiencing financial hardship through local nurseries.
The total amount of direct beneficiaries for both the early years and 16+ cohort will be approx. 2,500 children and young people
- £30k will be allocated for families of school age children, some will be in receipt of free school meals and some won’t but are experiencing financial hardship due to COVID and unemployment.
- We will also be funding a number of grassroots food related projects run by community groups and volunteers who are ensuring people are fed during Christmas and the winter months.
One of these organisations is Fit & Fed, create and donate food packs to families and help them cook food by running live ‘cook offs’.
The Food for Christmas campaign page will be live until 6pm on Monday 21st December for anyone that still wants to donate.
Thanks again for everyone’s support!
