Gary Dicker takes part in Live Q&A!

Yesterday afternoon, Gary Dicker took over our Twitter account yesterday to answer questions put to him by you, the County fans!

In case you missed it, here are the answers he gave to your questions…

Q: How would you describe County fans #AskGary

A: Loyal and loud!!

Q: What does it feel like winning at Wembley and is that the best feeling you’ve had in football? #AskGary

A: It was a massive moment in my career at such a young age and one I’ll always look back on with pride.

Q: #askgary fancy a date night?? Asking for a mate

A: Sadly I’m taken 😉😂

Q: Was your performance at Wembley one of the best in your career? Can’t remember you putting a foot wrong all game! #AskGary

A: Good question!! It’s definitely in my top 10 and I can remember a few slack passes 👀

Q:#askgary what do u make of gannon?

A: Really enjoyed his coaching and learnt a lot working under him.

Q: Hi Gary, do you think Jim is too calm and mild mannered on the touchline and needs to express his opinions a bit more? #AskGary

A: No right or wrong way to be on a touch line. It’s all about being yourself!!

Q: #AskGary do you ever think about not making the first team at Birmingham or how different your career could have been?

A: Not really. As I was never going to play regularly and that’s what I needed. Plus I wouldn’t have ended up at County if I did

Q: #AskGary probably my favourite player ever to wear a County shirt. What do you think of your overall time at the club, and what do you want to do after retirement?

A: Loved my time at the club. Wish we could have ket that group of players together for longer. I’d like to get in to coaching.

Q: Just how much potential did that play-off winning team have? How far do you reckon we could have got if the financial troubles didn’t happen? #AskGary

A: So much potential. That squad had a bit of everything in it. Would have been a Championship club in my opinion.

Q: Do you have any plans to go into coaching after you’ve retired? #AskGary

A: I’ve been doing my coaching for a few years now and I’ve been helping the Reserves at Kilmarnock for the past 4 years. So hopefully I’ll be coaching when I retire.

Q: Given the fact that the squad you played with at County was a fairly young one, who were the big personalities in the team? #AskGary

A: We all loads. Dicko was a big one but then you have boys would had big personalities on the pitch. Like Pilks Jimmy Mc and Gleeson.

Q: Best midfielder you played next to at County? #AskGary

A: Very hard picking one. Loved playing Dom Blizzard and Paul Turnbull, but I say Stephen Gleeson. Very intelligent player and technically gifted.

Q: Describe your time at County in a short sentence 💙 #askgary

A: Unbelievable

Q: Favourite pub on castle street Gary? If you haven’t been to any, next time you come down I’ll treat you #askgary

A: Can’t remember what pub I was in after the parade but I loved it 🍻😂

Q: Ignoring playoffs, what is your favourite County game? #AskGary

A: Oldham at home under the lights. We broke down on the way to the game in Johnny Mullins car. Me him and Leon McSweeney ran down the motorway and I got MOM 😂

Q: Would you have liked a longer stay at Stockport or did you feel the time was right to move on ? #AskGary

A: At the time it was right to move on as I was told to go and Club wasn’t in a good position. I needed to play games. I would have liked to have stayed for longer but that happens in football.

Q: Hi Gary, have you ever played professionally on a worse pitch than the beach at EP during your time here?#AskGary

A: It was our beach and we loved playing at Edgeley

Q: #askgary how many family members did you fly over for the Wembley game?

A: Must have been over 30 👀🇮🇪

Q: Will we ever see Gary Dicker grace the Edgeley Park pitch again wearing a County shirt?

A: Who knows

Q: #askgary Can I have your Wembley shirt? I’ve got all three of the others you wore for us. Because I’m defo not a weirdo PS Love you x

A: It’s hanging in my mother’s house 👍

Q: #AskGary favourite club you’ve played at

A: I’d have to pick County Brighton and Kilmarnock

Q: #AskGary you’ve achieved a lot in your career – what’s been your highlight?

A: Very hard to pick one moment. Wembley is right in the top 5.

Q: How different is it playing in Ireland than England as in the atmosphete and general set-up not just the quality? #AskGary

A: Hard question but the facilities like stadiums are a lot better. Always so hard to judge the standards between leagues.

Q: #AskGary Best County player you’ve played with?! Best play overall?!

A: Best all round player for ability would be Pilks.

Q: Would you ever think about coming back? #AskGary

A: As I said who knows in this game. Right now I’m loving my time at Kilmarnock.

Q: Who did you enjoy playing under more, Jim Gannon or Steve Clarke? #AskGary

A: Very tough question. Steve Clarke would shade it for me.

Q: Best midfielder you played next to at County? #AskGary

A: Already mentioned Gleeson and then Pilks for all round ability.

Q: What did the players all make of the dirty gold strip 👀

A: The gold kit was 🔥 and we went on a crazy run wearing it.

Q: Have you ever been back to Edgeley Park since leaving the Club? (not including as a player for other teams) #AskGary

A: Last time I was back in Edgeley Park was for the rockstar Roger Wilde’s testimonial.

Q: What did you make of a young Paul Turnbull when he was brought back from Altrincham and put straight into the first-team for the play-off campaign? #AskGary

A: Nobody was really surprised as everyone knew the player he was before he went on loan. He came back and showed it with the way he played after his loan. Only man who would gel his hair for training 👀🤔😂

Q: What was your record on hang tough and were you a fan of naked hang tough? #askgary

A: I’m sure I came second in the hang tough competition 😂

Q: Everyone asks about best player at county , but who do you feel was the most under rated during your time ? #AskGary

A: I’d say Jim McNulty. So composed on the ball and was quick/strong Leon McSweeney won’t be happy

Q: Other than the match shirt at Wembley… anything else you brought back… grass? Mud? #AskGary

A: Sadly not as I was drug tested straight after the game. I’m sure Dicko soaked him with champagne which didn’t go down well 😂

Q: #askgary what are your memories of this iconic moment? Bury at home, February 2008.

A: I remember Proudy taking a goal kick straight away and it rolled a long the ground 😂

Q: #AskGary how nuts was Conrad Logan?!

A: The polar bear what a guy. Another big personality and one I enjoyed playing with.

Q: Is it true Proudlock was sub keeper for Wembley and had a keeper shirt made up?

A: Can’t remember Lando will know that.
