Jim Gannon speaks with Chris Ridgway
Stockport County manager Jim Gannon speaks to 104.9 Imagine FM presenter Chris Ridgway about the disappointment of only a point gained in the games with Brackley Town and Blyth Spartans, while looking ahead to cup fever, with The Hatters hosting Chorley in the FA Trophy before travelling to Barnet in the FA Cup.
A last gasp Frank Mulhern header rescued a point for Jim Gannon and his men on Saturday, at home to Brackley Town in the league. There wasn’t much time to celebrate however, with an evening trip to North East outfit Blyth Spartans only three days later.
True to recent form, Mulhern found the net again, only this time there were no last minute crazed celebrations. Despite the efforts of Frank and his teammates, it was a former County striker who went home celebrating as Spartans manager, County legend Alun Armstrong oversaw the win against former colleague in blue and white Jim Gannon.
It’s Chorley next at Edgeley Park in the FA Trophy, a game that may just be vital to the plans of manager Jim Gannon. It’s a chance for him to see how his players come back from defeat, prepare for the test to Barnet and to see if there’s a run on offer in the competition that County took a great deal of joy from last season.
Following the interview is the usual catch up of Chris Ridgway and MArtin Johnston, as they pick over another week in the life of a Stockport County fan, assessing the games gone, the games coming up, who was “Da Man” (their own version of the man of the match), and who is “the one to watch” for the fixture up ahead.
Don’t forget that as always, Chris Ridgway joins Jon Keighren this Saturday on 104.9 Imagine FM and around the world on County Player for full match commentary and all the coverage of Stockport County in the Vanarama National League North.
