Manager Jim Gannon was delighted with the resilience shown by his team in their stunning 2-1 victory over League One Rochdale in the FA Cup First Round.
County were put on their way to that Cup upset by a breathtaking goal from John Rooney inside his own half, with Jim describing it as a goal that will ‘be shown over and over again’, stating that John is a player that will always be capable of moments like that.
He spoke about the tactics involved in setting the team up to win, but was keen to direct any praise for the performance towards his players for the sheer effort put in to execute the gameplan.
With County now just one win away from a place in the Third Round and a possible big tie, Jim discussed his preferences in the second round draw on Monday, but was also keen to switch focus back to our League campaign as we look to keep the pressure on leaders Torquay.
