After three weeks away from action, manager Jim Gannon reports that everyone is raring to go ahead of Sunday’s FA Cup tie against Yeovil Town at Edgeley Park.
Despite the frustration of being on lockdown over the last few weeks, Jim was pleased with the opportunity to recharge batteries ahead of such a busy festive period, with a fully fit squad now at his disposal.
With the team now facing a pile-up of fixtures in the coming weeks and months, the County boss gave his view on the potential knock-on effect such a congested season could have on player’s fitness and welfare.
With everyone back fit, Jim spoke about finding the right shape and balance going forward to allow everyone to play to their best, with the return of Jordan Williams providing yet another versatile option for the side.
With a place in the Third Round on offer on Sunday, he spoke about what a great achievement it would be for the side to reach that stage, but was keen to focus on the job in hand against Yeovil before looking too far ahead.
Looking at Yeovil, Jim wasn’t reading too much into their current position at the bottom of the National League, with a lot of their results so far this season being close-run games, emphasising the fine line between success and failure.
There was plenty of praise for the returning Matty Warburton, currently on loan at Yeovil, with Jim describing him as one of his best ever signings at Edgeley Park.
